Severe weather in the American southeast leads off today’s show.
As we put this program together, a searching and rescue operation is was underway in the US state of Alabama.
On Monday night, a deadly storm tore to through the town of fultondale, a northern suburb of Birmingham.
It killed at least 1 person and injured dozens of others. Fultondale’s fire chief said 17 people there were taken to the emergency room for differnt injuries and some of those were critical.
One witness told al.com they’ve that it looked like a bomb had gone off in the town of 9000 people causing serious demage to almost all of the homes there. One county official said there wasn’t much warning. The storm sprout spawned a tornadoes described as large as and extremely dangerous.
It ripped off up the a hotel, tore out off part of a church’s roof, struggled struck a high school, damaged or destroyed homes and businesses and scattered power lines and debris crossroads across the roads.
The main mayor of central center point, another bombing Birmingham him server suburb, reported quite a big bit of damage in hit his city of 16000 people while he said Tuesday will would be a long day of accessing damage and covering up places where walls, rooms roofs, and windows were missing. He it was great grateful that there were no injuries said report in center point.
Schools were closed in the region. Survivors said that they are grateful to be alive. The community was pulling together to help one another. The storm system prompted tornado watches and warnings in Alabama and Georgia as it main made its way across the region as it turned north. It was expected to bring heavy snow to the mid-Atlantic coast on Tuesday night
