Misinformation <-> Disinformation (EBS 최수진의 모닝스페셜 2021.11.10.수 2부)

Ray: [31:07] Misinformation is simply a term for wrong or false information. And it doesn’t matter if the intent of this is mislead or deceive people. So, this can sometimes be accidental, right. Maybe there is a meething. I think the meeting is at 7 o’clock but it was actually at 6 o’clock. But I was wrong. I just had some wrong information and I told you “Okay, 수진, the meeting is at 7.” I didn’t do it intentionally, but I gave you some wrong information.
미스인포메이션은 잘못된/거짓 정보을 의미하는 용어이다. 사람들을 속이려는 의도가 있는지는 중요하지 않다. 그래서 우연히 그럴수도 있다. 7시에 회의가 있다고 생각했는데, 사실은 회의가 6시였고, 내가 잘 못 알고 있었다. 내가 수진에게 회의는 7시라고 잘못된 정보를 말했다. 내가 의도하지 않았지만, 수진에게 잘못된 정보를 줬다.
Ray: [31:36]Now Disinformation is misinformation but it was done intentionally. So if I knew the meeting was at 6 o’clock but I told you “수진, the meeting is at 7,” and I did on purpose. So you’ll miss the meeting and get in trouble. Now I’m spreading disinformation.
디스인포메이션은 미스인포메이션이지만 의도적으로 행해지는 것이다. 만약에 내가 그 미팅이 6시인걸 알고있었지만, 수진에게 7시라고 말했다면, 그건 의도적인 것이다. 그러면 수진은 미팅을 놓칠 것이고 곤란해질 수도 있다. 지금 이런 상황이 디스인포메이션을 퍼트리는 것이다.
