UN stands for United Nations. The UN is an international organization trying to boost international cooperation and to promote global peace and security. 

 

[Speaking] Talk about the UN

The UN was founded in 1945. It is an international organizaion aimed at contributing to global peace and security. 193 member nations are currently active. The UN is headquartered in New York. There are also local offices in Geneva Switzerland, Vienna Austria, and Narobi Kenya. Plus, the UN has several affiliated organizations. UNICEF is a good example.

 

Workers that are empoloyed by the UN fall under different staff categories.

Professional P, Director D, General G, and National professional officers NO.

There are 3 kinds of employment contracts: temporary within employment period of less than 1 year; fixed term which can last from 1 to 5 years; and continuing which can last as long as it needs to .

 

Job postings are frequently announced on the UN webpage.

People are chosen through application reviews, written tests, and competency-based interviews via videoconferencing or by phone.
