* 특정한 기간/이벤트 동안 무엇을 진행하는 과정을 강조
* while에 비해 어떤 일이 일어나는 동안 다른 일이 일어났음을 강조
* 과정/진행의 in 보다 강조 표현

Let’s discuss it during lunch. 점심 먹으면서 논의해보자. <= discussing, eating at the same time.

I fought in the Korean War. 나는 한국 전쟁에 참전했다.
I fought during the Korean War. 저는 한국전쟁 때 싸웠어요. <= 한국 전쟁에서 “싸웠다”는 것 강조 (한국 전쟁이 지속적으로 일어났을 때 나는 참전하면서 막 싸웠다.는 뉘앙스)

It happened during the Korean War. 그것은 한국전쟁 중에 일어났습니다.
It happened in the Korean War. 그것은 한국 전쟁 때 일어난 일입니다.

Don’t talk during class. 수업 중에 말하지 마. <= 강조
Don’t talk in class. 수업시간에 말하지 마.

* 무엇이 동시에 지속되는 뉘앙스
* 디테일하게 설명할 때 specifically detailed.

Somebody stole it while we were sleeping. 우리가 자는 동안 누가 그걸 훔쳤다.
Somebody stole it during our sleep. <= 문법적으로 문제 없지만 실용회화에서는 굉장히 어색함.

I slept during the day. 나는 낮에 잠을 잤다.
I was studying while you were sleeping. 너가 자는 동안 나는 공부를 하고 있었어.
