These days, whenever you flip the channel, one trot program after another.

Obviously, there are many audition programs, talent shows. We are seeing more and more new talents especially that enjoy singing the trot music genre.

[Speaking] Talk about the recent trot music craze in Korea.

Trot is a genre of Korean popular music. Originally, it was in favor with older generations. But recently, it is getting gaining attractions traction among all generations. The recent trot craze got off the ground with a trot talent show program on TV a year ago. Now, most major TV stations seem to have a similar trot talent show.

 

The key to trot's success is that it gives a voice to Korean people's emotions and sentiments. The mood of traditional trot and the vocal techniques of the singers speak to the public. Nowadays, various performance elements are also added to the mix. Trot songs are just a the thing to live lift the mood to at various celebrations or gatherings. It looks like the popularity of trot music is here to stay.
