Kristen: Welcome Everyone to Power English. I am Christian Cho.
Cameron : And I am Cameron Word
Kristen: From page 157, it’s the last dialogue of this month starting a small business I made my first sales. So throughout the month, you know, there kind of getting business started online website in the whole thing. Now they’re making some money hopefully.
Cameron: Yeah! Isn’t that exciting? When you started your new job or if you’re a company employee and then you became a freelancer, that first time you make money, it’s so exciting.
Kristen: Super-excited! That’s we’re gonna talk about it. And just quickly. Have you ever thought about, you know I’ve never asked this question, would you ever in the future run a small business of your own?
Cameron: Oh goodness! Well, because I am a freelancer, I think it kind of feels like a business but if you’re talking about like making a product and selling it. I wouldn’t have interest. It’s a lot of work.
Kristen: I think everybody kind of toys with the idea, meaning they think about it but you know that’s a big commitment.
Cameron: What about you? Would you ever have your own business?
Kristen: I would like to but it’s a lot of work like your said
Cameron: But you are a hard worker.
Kristen: You know what? What I really would like is like my own online health shop. Really! This is because I love talking about health and food
Cameron: I would go to your online shop and buy your products.
Kristen: Here are some expressions for today “catch someone at a bad time”
Cameron: This is whenever you go to see someone or you call them, and that person is busy and it’s very inconvenient time for you to have contacted them.
Kristen: We’ll show you how it use that in a bit. “If you are walking on air”
Cameron: “walk on air” means so happy it’s like you are floating up off the ground.
Kristen: Like a flying
Cameron: I am flying jack.
Kristen: “leave someone in the dust”
Cameron: This means you are doing so much better than them. You’re going so fast. Your speed makes the dust come off the ground and they’re chalking under the dust you make.
Kristen: The person behind you is chalking? Okay! So let’s see how this is used by listening to the Dialogue.

Allison: Did I catch you at a bad time? I have got the best news in the world
Rene: Of course it’s a bad time. It’s 6 a.m.! ummmm This better be good.
Allison: I got my first sale. In fact, my sale is better than I expected.
Rene: That’s incredible. You must be walking on air right now.
Allison: I am definitely excited. Can you meet me for lunch? I want to talk to you about my next steps.
Rene: Are you already thinking about how you can leave your competitiors in the dust?

happy = seven’s heaven, all in the sky, on cloud nine, over the moon

Walking on air = extremely happiness
I was walking on air when Brad asked me marry him.
Getting to work with you every day is walking on air.
Walking on air for me is when I had a moment.

Leave someone in the dust
=> to do better than your competitiors by a lot
K: You did really well in the 10 K race
C: Are you kidding? You left me in the dust right at the start.
K: So in a race, when you leave someone in the dust, you are way ahead
C: It’s just you’re going so fast and the dust comes up and you can’t even seen the first place person anymore .
K: You can’t even catch up
C: No
K: The champion cycling team always left its competition in the dust.
So when we use this expression it’s usually there is a competition.
so when we talk about sports, there is a compeition obviously.
Business, there is a competition. So, any time you have a competition.
C: Right. Orginally, these phrases have to do with races, competitions of speed and it’s kind of expand into any kind you can compare to race. So Businesses are like competing each other. See who can get the product out the fastest .
K: So we’ve got a lot of skin care companies. In korean skin care, it’s is a big thing. So you’ve got all these big companies that have started out. Then company A just left everyone in the dust.
C: They expanded so fast and they have 70% of entire market and everyone else has 5% each.

K: This (had) better be good
-> You interrupted me. I am doing something important. Whatever you telling me better be good. Better be important.
