[Speaking] Talk about Audition Programs on TV

Trot music is on everyone's mind these days in Korea. Countless trot audition programs are being aired by all the TV stations. These audition programs have become a widely accepted format for TV shows.

Personally, I am a die-hard fan of "The Phantom Singer," an audition program that first aired 4 or 5 years ago. What separates it from the pack is the elements of crossovers. Musicians with lots of vocal talent participate, from various genres including K-pop, musicals, classical vocal music, and even traditional Korean music ,국악. They form teams and compete against each other in an elimination format. Listening to their music is a treat for the eyes and ears.

After each broadcast, I find all the great songs that were on the program and listen to them on repeat. "The Phantom Singer" gives me a break from my exhausting, sometime, boring life.

요즘 우리 나라에는 트롯 음악이 열풍이다. 각 TV 방송사마다 수많은 트로트 오디션 프로그램이 방영되고 있다. 이러한 오디션 프로그램은 보편적인 포맷(방송구성)이 되었다. 

개인적으로 나는 4~5년 전에 처음 방송된 '팬텀'싱어'라는 오디션 프로그램의 열렬한 팬이다. 팬텀싱어의 가장 큰 특징은 크로스오버다. K-pop, 뮤지컬, 성악, 심지어 한국 전통 음악인 국악 등 다양한 장르에서 가창력을 겸비한 음악인들이 참여를 한다. 이들은 팀을 이루어서 서바이벌 과정을 통해서 서로 경합을 벌인다. 그들의 음악을 들으면 눈과 귀가 즐겁다.

각 회 방송 후에, 그 프로그램에서 나온 주옥같은 노래들을 전부 찾아서 반복해서 듣는다. 팬텀싱어는 나에게 고단하면서도 때때로 단조로운 삶에 소소한 즐거움을 준다.
