[Speaking] Talk about Educating Children at Home

In the past, I sent my child to several private academies. She went to Ballet school, and took art lessons with a home tutor. But because of the coronavirus, parents have to take charge of many aspects of educating kids.

Our daughter is 6 years old. She attends a public kindergarten, so she spends a lot of time at home. In the morning, we take a TV yoga class together. In the afternoon, we use an educational app for piano lessons playing the piano together. we also read together every day. I've started teaching her the basics in Hangul, numbers, and English. When she falls asleep, I write down what she did that day in my diary and reflect on the day. Since I spend more time with her, it's become an opportunity for me to get to know her better.

 

예전에는 아이를 여러 학원에 보냈습니다. 아이는 발레 학원을 다녔고 집에서는 미술방문교사의 수업을 받았습니다. 그러나 코로나 19 때문에 이제는 아이교육의 상당부분을 부모가 맡아서 해야 합니다.

저희 딸은 6살입니다. 국공립 유치원을 다니다보니, 집에서 보내는 시간이 많습니다. 그래서 아침에는 TV에서 하는 요가수업을 같이 듣고, 오후에는 피아노 레슨을 해주는 교육용 앱을 이용해서 같이 피아노를 칩니다. 매일 같이 책도 읽습니다. 한글, 숫자, 영어도 제가 기본적인 것을 가르치기 시작했습니다. 

아이가 잠들고 나면 그 날 있었던 일을 다이어리에 써놓고 하루를 되돌아봅니다. 아이와 같이 보내는 시간이 많아지니, 전보다 아이를 더 잘 알게 되는 계기가 되었습니다.
