[Introduction]
H: Have you ever heard the term "metaverse?"
C: Yes I have, but not very often.
H: We don't talk about it every day, but we know it's coming. Something like a metaverse is coming to us.

[Speaking] Talk about the concept of Metaverses 메타버스에 대해서 이야기해주세요.
A metaverse is a 3D virtual world where social, economic, and cultural activities take place, just like in real life. The word combines "meta," which means "beyond," and "universe." A metaverse goes a step beyond virtual reality (VR). It's defining trait is that people can perform the same activities in it as they would in the real world.
I recently saw a live performance by John Legend, filmmed with a motion camera and recreated in real time in a metaverse. Watching that, I thought that metaverse would soon fuse with VR elements and really take root in our lives.
Metaverses may become an even more powerful medium than our current social media. I would like to take part in this metaverse world, exploring possibilities for myself.
메타버스는 현실세계와 같은 방식으로 사회 경제 문화 활동이 이루어지는 3차원의 가상세계입니다. 초월이라는 뜻의 메타와 유니버스의 합성어로 가상세계보다 한단계 더 나아간 개념입니다. 사람들이 실제현실에서 하는 활동을 메타버스 안에서 똑같이 수행할 수 있다는 것이 주요 특징입니다.
존 레전드라는 가수의 라이브공연을 모션카메라로 촬영해서 실시간으로 메타버스 세상에서 재현해낸 것을 본 적이 있습니다. 그걸 보면서, 메타버스가 VR 요소와 결합하여 우리 삶에 뿌리 내릴 것이라고 생각했습니다.
메타버스는 현재의 SNS보다 강력한 매체가 될수도 있습니다. 저도 메타버스의 세상에 참여하여 주체적으로 그 가능성을 타진해보고 싶습니다.

B: That's right. I hear people bring it up a lot more often than in the past.

A: It lets us live our daily lives inside a virtual world.
메타버스가 가상세계 안에서 우리의 일상생활을 하게 하네요.
B: That's right.
