[Speaking] Talk about Swimming

I first took up swimming in 2017. I started swimming because I was afraid of the water and I wanted to change myself for the better.

I am not athletically gifted, so it wasn't easy to learn how to swim. So, I never missed a lesson and practiced everyday even on off days. They say that effot always pays off. Slowly but surely, my swimming skills improved.

I'm still swimming these days, and I'm enrolled in the top-tier masters' class. I'm trainning with the aim of entering an amateur competition when Covid 19 comes under control. I think that perseverance and a can-do spirit are necessary in everything, not just swimming.

 

나는 2017년에 처음 수영을 시작하게 되었다. 물을 무서워 하는 나 자신을 좀 더 나은 방향으로 바꾸고 싶어서 수영을 시작했다. 

나는 운동신경이 둔해서 수영을 배우는게 쉽지 않았다. 그래서 수업에 절대 빠지지 않았고, 수업이 없는 날에도 매일 연습했다. 노력은 배신하지 않는다는 말이 있듯이 내 수영 실력은 더디지만, 꾸준히 늘었다.

요즘 나는 가장 높은 수준이 마스터 반에 등록해서 계속 수영을 하고 있다. 코로나19가 좀 진정되면, 아마추어 대회에 출전하는 것을 목표로 훈련 중이다. 수영뿐만 아니라 모든 것에 끈기와 할 수 있다는 자신감이 필요하다고 생각한다.

B: Yeah. I take lessons 3 times a week.

   I practice on my own when I don't have lessons.

A: I'm thinking about taking swimming lessons, too.

B: I highly recommend. You won't regret it.
