[Speaking] Talk about Marine Pollution 해양 오염에 대해서 이야기 해주세요
I recently watched a documentary called ‘Seasipracy’ on the recommendation of a friend. It shows how large scale fishing and overfishing is having a negative impact on marine ecology. It really came as a shock. I’ve had often heard about how factory farming is impacting the environment. But I was unfamiliar with how fishing threatens the marine environment.

The movie exposes how we are destroying marine eco-system by catching fish willy-nilly. It warns that unless we change our ways, marine animal speices may go extinct. Some experts aspects of the movie might have been exaggerate a bit. But I think it’s meaningful that the movie raised awareness of the need to protect the marine environment.

최근에 친구의 추천으로 ‘sea-sipracy’라는 다큐멘터리 영화를 봤습니다. 이 다큐멘터리는 대규모 어업과 남획이 어떻게 바다 생태계에 악영향을 미치고 있는지 보여줍니다. 완전 충격이었어요. 대규모 축산이나 농경이 환경에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 종종 들어왔습니다. 하지만 어획이 해양생태계에 어떤 영향을 미치는지는 생소했습니다.
영화는 무분별한 어획으로 우리가 어떻게 해양 생태계를 파괴하고 있는지 폭로합니다. 우리가 방법을 바꾸지 않는 한, 해양생태계의 상당수의 생물들이 멸종될 수 있다고 경고합니다. 영화의 일부 측면은 약간은 과장됐을 수도 있지만, 해양환경 보존의 필요성을 제고시켜준다는 점에서 의미가 있다고 봅니다.
