이현석: Have you ever done some gardening for your house or for yourself, for any reason?
제니퍼: I don't know if we can really call it gardening, but I have tried.
이현석: You've tried?
제니퍼: I've tried planting a few ### here and there.
이현석: Have you ever had ### garden on your own?
제니퍼: Not a garden, but out on my balcony, I do have some plants.
이현석: We raise a plant. If you want to call it gardening, you have to go all the way.
제니퍼: I have some veggies, for example, you know, Korean lettuce, tomatoes, chili peppers.

The Joy of Gardening 텃밭 가꾸기가 주는 즐거움
[Speaking] Talk about the joy you get from gardening.
More and more households these days are growing fruits and vegetables at home. Reasons range from emotional cleansing to securing clean food. People raise plants on their balconies, on rooftops or in flower beds. Sometimes, they rent out a bit of land from a farm. Recently, raising green onions in gardens became a hot new fad becasue of skyrocketing prices. This year, I was selected in a draw to receive a garden plot in our apartment complex. So, I'm raising green onions, lettuce, chili peppers, pumpkins, eggplants, and cherry tomatoes in my garden.
The greatest joy in gardening comes from seeing plants I tend to as they grow little by little each day. It also brings me great happiness to taste the fruits of my labor with my family.

요즘 정서순화와 깨끗한 먹거리 확보등의 이유로 집에서 채소나 과일을 기르는 가정이 점점 늘어나고 있습니다. 사람들이 베란다, 옥상, 화단에서 식물을 기릅니다. 가끔은 농장에서 토지 일부를 분양받기도 합니다. 최근에는 가격 폭등으로 텃밭에서 대파 기르는 것이 열풍이었습니다. 올해는 제가 사는 아파트 단지 텃밭 분양 추첨이 있었는데, 제가 당첨되었습니다. 그래서 대파, 상추, 고추, 호박, 가지, 체리토마토를 재배하고 있습니다.
텃밭 가꾸기의 가장 큰 즐거움은 내가 보살피는 식물들이 매일 조금씩 조금씩 자라는 모습을 보는 것입니다. 그리고 가족들과 함께 내 노력의 결실을 맛보는 즐거움도 선사합니다.
