The word halloween can be traced back hundreds of years.	할로윈이라는 단어의 기원은 수백년 전으로 거슬러 올라간다.
Originally, it refers to the eve of All Saints' Day.	원래는 핼러윈은 만성절 전야를 의미한다.
Usually, it features creepy themes like fearful deaths and mythological monsters.	주로 무서운 죽음이나 신화 속의 괴물처럼 음산한 분위기를 테마로 한다.
One of the major holiday customs of halloween involves carving a pumpkin and placing a candle in it.	할로윈의 큰 풍습 중에 하나가 호박을 도려내서 그 안에 초를 넣는 것이다.
The lanterns, made to look like a ghost, are called Jack-O'-lanterns.	유령처럼 보이게 만들어진 이 등불을 "잭 오 랜턴"이라고 부른다.
Kids dress up as creatures like ghosts or witches and go door to door asking for candy.	아이들은 유령이나 마녀로 분장해서 집집마다 다니며 사탕을 달라고 한다.
This is called "trick or treating."	이것을 trick or treating 이라고 한다.
If they aren't given any candy, they might play tricks like scribbling graffiti on a house.	만약 사탕을 받지 못 한다면, 집에 낙서하는 것처럼 장난칠지도 모른다.
But most grown-ups prepare sweets to give out to the children, so this only happens very rarely.	그러나 대부분의 성인들이 아이들에게 나눠줄 사탕을 준비해서, 이런 일은 거의 일어나지 않는다.
