(1) delete 삭제하다
- 컴퓨터 속 파일, 기계 등을 이야기 할 때
(이제 막 다이어트를 시작해서 힘들어 하는 친구에게 조언을 해주는 상황)
A: Oh, I ate chicken last night again. I couldn’t help it. 어….나 어제 저녁에 또 치킨 먹었어. 못 참겠더라구요.
B: Been there done that. But if you really want to lose weight, you should delete those delivery apps first. 나도 다~ 해봤어. 나도 그 마음 알아. 근데 정말 살을 빼고 싶다면, 그 배달 어플부터 지워야 해.
(컴퓨터에서 파일을 지우려고 하자, 팝업창에서 알림이 뜨는 문구)

(2) erase 지우다; 없애다.
적어 놓은 글/기록/정보/기억 등을 지우개로 지우는 듯이
추억같이 눈에 보이지 않는 것을 지울 때
Can you erase the whiteboard? 화이트보드 좀 지워줄래?
I want to erase all the bad memories I have of him. 나는 그에 대해 갖고 있는 나쁜 기억들을 모두 지우고 싶다.
I erased/deleted all of his pictures. 나는 그의 사진을 모두 지웠다/삭제하다
(3) delete과 erase는 interchangeable 하다. <= 반복을 피하기 위해 delete 대신 erase를 쓴다.
일반적으로 erase를 더 많이 쓰지만 기계적인 것도 erase를 쓴다
하지만 delete가 좀 더 formal한 느낌

When your computer gets infected with a virus, it will delete/erase the entire system.
=> 상황에 따라, 기계적인 것은 delete/erase 모두 가능

머리 속에서 누군가를 지울 수 있지만, 마음 속에서 지우는 것은 더 어렵습니다.
